Why Brainhack ?

BrainHacks are collaborative events that focus on the open sharing of ideas, models, code, and data. They bring together brain experts and enthusiasts from a variety of backgrounds to build relationships, learn from one another, and collaborate on projects related to the neurosciences

The theme of this year's Brainhack Toronto is Interoperability which an effort to break down silos between data tools, modalities, platforms and standards in neuroscience research. Participants at BrainHack Toronto 2019 will engage in learning opportunities through our Train Track Workshops , listen in on exciting new research tools via our Ignite Speaker Series , and contribute to the emerging open-science movement through tackling issues surrounding interoperability in neuroscience

Program:

This two day event will bring together local scientists and trainees in neuroimaging from institutions across the region. The program will include:

Open hacking sessions in which attendees will work together on projects of their own design. Project inspirations could stem from our Ignite Speaker talks, projects proposed by attendees, or ongoing work you'd like assistance with! This is a great opportunity for fruitful collaboration and to explore areas of software development, computational modelling, and data analysis.
Unconference sessions where talks are chosen by the attendees based on their interests as they evolve throughout the meeting.
Train Track educational workshops will familiarize you with modern methods and tools currently used by Neuroscientists across multiple disciplines.

Workshops

BrainHack2019 features a number of workshops in order to enhance the computational literacy of neuroscientists across all levels. These workshops will expose you to a variety of opportunities to learn about new technologies, techniques and strategies for managing data in the neurosciences. Workshops are spread out across 2 days:

Project Ideas

Open hacking projects are a great forum for getting support on a technical issue from your own research program or starting a new collaborative project. Check out our full project listing or suggest your own. Those who submit the first 5 projects will be rewarded with FREE REGISTRATION.
